Do you miss me at all?
Do you even care?
Do you remember your best friend,
Who was always there?
You left her behind,
Out of every plan.
And despite the exclusion,
Behind you, she ran.
She still stood up for you,
When morale was low.
She always had room for you,
When there was nowhere to go.
You pushed her away,
When she offered aid.
When you wished for quiet,
Away she would fade.
You grew out of your best friend,
Or so you had thought.
But she always fit well,
Not too tall, not too short.
But you’ve pushed her away,
For the final time.
You will miss her sorely,
Even at your prime.
I miss you already,
For that story you see?
Is the story of us,
And in it, you lost me.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. The piece was written about my best friend, who's moving away soon, to begin her University life in another city. Like you, I understand why she has too, I just find it really hard to deal with. I'm taking it too personally, I'm sure, but that's just the way I am.
